
About Dr. DeCarvalho
​Dr. Lorie DeCarvalho is a clinical psychologist with over two decades of post-doctoral experience practicing psychotherapy. Dr. DeCarvalho is a board certified and fellowship-trained expert in trauma/ PTSD with a subspecialty in military trauma. She has created and opened numerous behavioral health clinics and was responsible for their clinical and administrative oversight in Central California and Oregon for hospital and rural clinic networks. She has served as the head of behavioral health services programs at various organizations over the past couple of decades, as well as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychiatry for Loma Linda University Medical Center since 2007.
Dr. DeCarvalho earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program at Loma Linda University in 2003. She completed an APA-accredited residency at the Jerry Pettis VA Medical Center and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the National Center for PTSD in Honolulu, Hawaii. She served at the Honolulu VA Medical Center and Tripler Army Medical Center. Dr. DeCarvalho also has a master’s degree in psychology from Loma Linda University, a master’s degree in counseling and bachelor’s degree in Psychology with Pre-Med from Southern Oregon University.
In her practice, Dr. DeCarvalho now works with adults and the elderly. She treats individuals with anxiety, depression, those coping with acute or chronic medical illnesses, adjustment to family, health, relationship, work, and significant life stressors. Dr. DeCarvalho works with LGBTQIA+ issues, grief/ loss, women’s issues, and those who desire short-term therapy to help them move to the next level in their career or life goals. She focuses on the whole person and integrates current, effective therapies based on a patient’s specific needs. It is her goal to educate and empower individuals, to help them reach their highest life potential.
Dr. DeCarvalho is credentialed with the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. She is a professional fellow and diplomate of the National Center for Crisis Management and the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress. She holds professional memberships in the American Psychological Association, the Oregon Psychological Association, the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis, and the Oregon Society for Clinical Hypnosis.
